Spherical boron powders prepared by mechanical milling in immiscible liquids

چکیده

Spherical boron powders with sizes ranging from 4 to 100 μm were prepared by ball milling a commercial powder. A planetary mill was used process control agent consisting of two immiscible fluids: hexane and acetonitrile. The spherical formed when the volume loaded close that acetonitrile in presence excess hexane. Particle measured using low-angle laser light scattering, they examined scanning electron microscopy, their specific surface area nitrogen adsorption. size distributions spheres much narrower than is common for solids processed high-energy milling. particles fragile; mechanical stability improved small amount Fluorel®, fluorocarbon binder, preliminarily dissolved Experiments showed exhibited higher bulk density better flowability starting Process-property relations explored systematically varying parameters analyzing effect on distribution spheres. found decrease used; it also decreased an increase time, number balls, speed

The crystallization process of amorphous Al80Fe20 alloy powders prepared by ball milling

The amorphous-to-crystalline transition during thermal annealing of amorphous Al80Fe20 alloy powders prepared by ball milling was investigated by means of magnetothermal analysis and X-ray di€raction. Following structural relaxation and stress relief processes, a metastable phase precipitates during primary crystallization, and a mixture of intermetallic compound (h-Al13Fe4) and fcc Al is devel...

Large-scale mechanical peeling of boron nitride nanosheets by low-energy ball milling†

Mechanical cleavage by Scotch tape was the first method to produce graphene and is still widely used in laboratories. However, a critical problem of this method is the extremely low yield. We have tailored ball milling conditions to produce gentle shear forces that produce high quality boron nitride (BN) nanosheets in high yield and efficiency. The in-plane structure of the BN nanosheets has no...

Synthesis of chromium-nickel nanoparticles prepared by a microemulsion method and mechanical milling.

A chemical and a physical method have been applied for the preparation of chromium-nickel alloy nanoparticles. These particles were designed to be used for controlled magnetic hyperthermia applications. Microemulsions with Ni2+ and Cr3+ and/or NaBH4 as precursors were prepared using the isooctane/CTAB, n-butanol/H2O system. The samples of CrxNi1-x nanoparticles with the desired composition were...

LATTICE EXPANSION AND GRAIN BOUNDARY EXCESS VOLUME OF NANOCRYSTALLINE Se PREPARED BY MECHANICAL MILLING

Lattice constant is one of the most principle crystal parameters, which critically determines physical, chemical, mechanical and thermodynamic, and other properties. Conversely, material properties could be tuned for specific applications by tailoring the lattice constants. Practically, the lattice constants were modified by controlling surface/boundary/interface, lattice solute/defect and exte...
